Silly thoughts, stated obtusely.

The not-so-smart, overly complicated thoughts had to go somewhere, so…

Marie Quite Contrary

You can take the girl out of France, but you can't take France out of the girl.

I will undoubtedly continue to draw Marie Antoinette for my entire life because:

THE HAIR! (Obviously.)

My favorite pictures of Ms. Antoinette are the ones where she has a literal ship embedded into her hairdo. I mean, look at the things we do to ourselves these days thinking we are the height of cool. But a boat? In your massive 'do? That is something else entirely.

Alas, I have yet to create a nautically oriented Marie image, but be assured that it is forthcoming.

I produced this lil' diddy for a class of mine that required we incorporate an icon of our own creation into a larger overall piece. The icon ("fortune teller") fit very nicely into my storyline for Marie discovering her very unfortunate fate through an unlucky selection of semi-mystical playing cards. If you were vaguely aware that the country over which you presided was falling apart around your gilded feet, you'd probably make the same pouty (but vaguely annoyed) expression, too.

Qu'ils mangent de la brioche!
